How to get the most out of a UK Visit

If you are visiting the UK, whether for the first time or not, then you will want to make sure that you get a lot out of your visit. Although the UK is reasonably small compared to many other countries, it can take quite a long time to get from place to place and so if you want to visit places that are spread out you will need to be prepared to travel for some time. Public transport is variable and so it is worth researching this before you visit to find out whether there are bus or train services between the places that you wish to visit. Think about whether you really need to visit London, York, Glasgow, Cardiff and St Ives as if you do, then you are going to have to need a lot of travelling time.

It is worth planning in advance with regards to any specific places that you want to see. Find out about when they are open as some outdoor places only open in the summer months and some only on certain days of the week. Also look at the prices as the UK can be quite expensive compared to many other countries and so it is worth checking up on the entry fees too. If you eat out at an attraction then food prices will be inflated as well.

If you really want to embrace the culture and meet local people then staying in a bed and breakfast or b&b can be worthwhile. These are people’s homes where they have rooms available for guests to stay in and they will provide breakfast. The owners are usually friendly and chatty and will help you to know where to visit locally as well answer any questions you have about the country.

It is worth visiting some different types of places during your visit. If you have time, visiting a city and a village, inland and coastal areas, built up areas and countryside, will help to give you a selection of experiences and to find out more about all aspects of the UK. Visiting different counties will also do that as well.

Packing in a lot of experiences can be the best way to get good value for money. You will be able to see as much as you possibly can and do lots. However, it is worth remembering that you need to make sure that you do not get too tired. If you pack too much in then you could find that you will stop enjoying yourself as you will be rushing from place to place. Take time to absorb and enjoy and give yourself time to relax.
